Strangers in the Night

The midnight train is coming down the Strujen-Bajen mountains. Art Farnanski seems to be dozing off in his seat.
Someone knows that this is not true.
At the station, all the passengers get off the train, except one. The conductor comes and taps him on the shoulder to let him know they have arrived. Art Farnanski does not answer. He is dead.
"His heart?" asks commander Abrojos, looking at the dead body.
"Strychnine", answers the forensic doctor.
Hours later, the four people that had shared the train compartment with the dead man are at the police station.

The man in the dark suit:
"I am innocent. The blonde woman was talking to Farnanski."

The blonde woman:
"I am innocent. I did not speak to Farnanski".

The man in the light suit:
"I am innocent. The brunette woman killed him".

The brunette woman:
"I am innocent. One of the men killed him".

That same morning, while he is serving him coffee, the waiter at the Petit Piccolo asks commander Abrojos:
"This is an easy case for you, isn't it?"

"Yes", answers the commander. "Four true statements and four false ones. Easy as pie."

Who killed Farnanski? (only one person is guilty)

  3. I really do not think I have given such a difficult brainteaser.
@sir, it really is very easy. I know the answer.
Each persons statement is actually two statements.
For eg. I'm innocent. One of the men killed him
    is two statements
    1) I'm innocent.
2)One of the men killed him

@Adisha, I will let you know the answer once all my friends have tried ;-)

  4. well... lemme see.. 'am innocent' is said 4 times.. obviously 3 r true statements n 1 false. now out of the 4 remaining sentences, 1 is tru n 3 r false. 'The blonde woman was talking to Farnanski' & 'I did not speak to Farnanski' r contradictory.. other 2 r false which means 'One of the men killed him' is false. which means it was a women who killed him... which means.... blonde woman is the killer :D

hope am right!! lovely post yaar... keep giving such things.. was damn fun!!!

  7. Well.... a very easy one BUT not from the beginning especially after those 1st two MIND BOGGLING SENTENCES. Coming back to the solution: Out of the 4 inocent statements, 3 have to be true. So there is one more true statement remaining. If the man in the light suit 2nd statement is true, then the 2nd statements of the "man in the dark suit" and "the blonde woman" can't be false at the same time as they are contradictory. Leaving the 2nd statement of the brunette woman for a second, if we consider on the 2nd statement of the man in the dark suit to be true, we can conclude that the BLONDE WOMAN spoke to the victim....and thus the remaining 2nd statements of the other two suspects would be false.
CONCLUSION: BLONDE WOMAN is the culprit.
    CASE COMPLETED!!!!!
